The Red Telephone play Club Fandango Sunday 4th of December @ The Bull & Gate; London

November 30, 2011 in Uncategorized

The Red Telephone are an alternative/indie band from Burnley, Lancashire signed to Jack to Phono Records. Described as “a band with an obvious and unique talent” by Woho-Music.net, the four piece have impressed audiences across the North West and West Yorkshire with their intensely atmospheric sound and instrument swapping live performances.

Formed in the late summer of 2010, The Red Telephone s…et about crafting a distinct and intimate sound inspired by bands like The National, Radiohead, Interpol and Modest Mouse and swiftly recorded an enthusiastically well received debut EP.

The band’s early shows included runs to the finals of two North West ‘battle of the bands’ competitions and prestigious slots on the Hebden Bridge Trades Club’s Christmas Unsigned and the Prestwich Shangri-La arts festival, with The Red Telephone’s effortlessly melodic guitars, punctuated rhythms and soaring vocals catching attention.

In the Spring/Summer 2011, The Red Telephone took a break from playing live to expand on their progressively developing sound and returned to venues across East Lancashire in the Autumn with a stirring new set that caught the attention of London based independent record label Jack to Phono

Upskiboo single out today!

November 17, 2011 in Uncategorized

Next up to the label is JTP030 is Upskiboo from Copenhagen with the track “Running Like This.”  The download package will include a Tom Eno Disco re-edit.

A bit of blurb here on the muzak! Producer/DJ/collector/graffiti artist Upskiboo from Copenhagen, Denmark is Jack to Phono Records latest release. Upskiboo has previous releases on Melting Pot Music and continues the labels association with Denmark’s varied and cosmopolitan music scene with bands such as Blue Foundation, Ghost Society and The Bass Snatchers.

“Running Like This” becomes the 30th single on Jack to Phono and is back to our roots in terms of beats. The release has echoes of the past, unearthing lost instrumentation, all part of the work and soul of Upskiboo. On the flip side Tom Eno gives the track a disco re-edit worthy of any dancefloor. The track is out on the 28th of November.

Twitchcraft out now!

October 25, 2011 in Uncategorized

In 2009 old friends Jules Davies and DJ Samantha Evans (aka Sam the chef) got together to form the Mice Girls. Sam wanted some original breaks for her DJ sets so they decided to put some bits together. Hitching a ride down the A470, they arrived in Cardiff where they began experimenting with their newly acquired collection of car boot keyboards.

The dynamic duo have forged their low-fi electronica sound with 80s keyboards and a DIY attitude. Twitchcraft becomes our 28th release on Jack to Phono in time for the Halloween season! The Mice Girls have arrived with their wonky sound. Make the most of it before they disappear up their holes! The Mice Girls are receiving support from BBC Wales.

And remember – the feast ain’t over til someone cuts the cheese

You can download the single here

The Mice Girls *Latest*- are receiving support from the John Kennedy XFM Xposure show and were played on the Halloween special! Listen back to the mix on the XFM website
